| | Our Story
| Margaret Hall
began life in 1963 in a small shop, No. 2 Regent
Street, Leamington Spa, owned by Ted and Margaret Hall. It started as a
general shop but soon became well known for its fantastic bread and cakes. Margaret was
soon struggling to make her famous apple pies so decided to call on the
expertise of Peter Walsh, friend and colleague from their days at
Elisabeth The Chef. As
the demand on the bakery increased, Margaret decided to concentrate on making the high quality bread and
cakes on which the small
general store had built its local reputation. Margaret Hall's bakery business was
born. |

Gradually, as the business grew, the number of shops across the
Midlands increased to 14. By 1973, the small premises used for the bakery couldn't
keep up with sales in the shops and the business moved to a purpose built
building in Warwick. We have continued to invest in this site over the last 35
years and we now have a modern, state-of-the-art bakery, occupying premises of over 26,500 square feet.

| During the 1990's
Peter's son Jonathan joined the business and concentrated on establishing a strong
local and national wholesale side to the business. Over time the wholesale side
of the business became so successful this led to the sale of the retail shops in 1998. We now
concentrate on supplying our Margaret's Country Kitchen range of craft bakery confectionery
nationwide to a wide variety of customers. We also work closely with some
of our larger customers to create and develop specialised bespoke
products. We still make our confectionery using recipes and
equipment which Ted, our founder, would recognise. We make everything ourselves at our
Warwick bakery in small batches and pride ourselves on the flexibility and
versatility of our staff and equipment.

The Margaret's Country Kitchen
range is continuing to grow and is available
throughout most parts of the country via our distributor network. Although
most of our cakes are supplied as part of our ambient range, we have a strong
frozen customer base and have on site capabilities for blast freezing and frozen
storage. |
Ted would never compromise quality in order to cut costs and this has always
been the company's policy. Although many of our products for our major customers
are made to their specific requirements, it will always be our endeavour to
produce bakery products of the highest quality and offer the best service that
we can to our customers.
